Oilpastell Butterfl

Description: For this lesson we created a butterfly using oil pastells and watercolors. We focused on using cool colors and warm colors togheter. Once we outlined the butterfly wing we added details. After the details were added we used a Sharpie to outline everything. Then we chose to other use cool or warm colors for the inside of the butterfly. I chose to use the cool colors green and blue. I used different shades of blue and green to give it an fading effect. Once I used the cool colrs I went in with black to fill in the rest of the white space. Once everything was colored we used the opposite colors for the background. For me I had to use warm colors. I used red, orange, and yellow water colors to create the warm colored background.

Extension Activity: An extention activity for this would be to give students a spacific kind of butterfuly to duplicate in their project. This could go along with a science activity of talking about the stages of butterfies and the different kinds of butterflies.
